Creating the Tom Holland opal brooch required a collaborative effort across three generations of the Pragnell family.
Inspiration started with a vintage spider brooch owned by Jane Pragnell, mother of Charlie Pragnell. Her original piece sat high on her shoulder in a position that captured natural movement. Charlie’s son, Harry Pragnell, then adapted the idea to match the superhero movie character. He drew an articulated leg design based on the mechanical arms of the Iron Spider suit seen in the Marvel movies.
Pragnell Director Tom Crookenden led the workshop team through the handcrafting process. Turning the sketch into the finished Tom Holland opal brooch required over 350 hours of detailed work and traditional goldsmithing. Every leg joint, setting, and frame component was shaped and polished by hand.
