The Yowah mine site is known to be more of a fosicking area, rather than being mined by large machinery. Most mine sites in Yowah are 1 or 2 man operations.
A famous type of opal found in Yowah is the Yowah Nut. It has a nut shell look to it and is easily recognisable. Yowah stones do have some unique formations in them, however most Yowah Opals are generally well affordable stones.
