This 210 gram rough opal parcel comes directly from Lightning Ridge in New South Wales, the world’s most admired source of black opal. It features natural potch and color pieces with visible color through sections of their raw opal bodies. The mixed sizes allow for lapidary cutters to experiment with slicing, tumbling, dopping and hand shaping while exploring hidden color bars that may reveal more brightness during cutting and polishing.

Pieces range from small workable chips to larger fragments suited for training, carving or cutting into cabochons for fine jewelry. Lightning Ridge rough is known for its range of blue and green flashes, with some stones showing multicolor fire when worked correctly. This makes the parcel an excellent choice for hobby cutters, students learning lapidary skills and collectors who enjoy discovering potential within raw opals.

All stones are 100% natural, untreated and are not doublets, triplets or synthetic material. These pieces are suitable for making opal October birthstone jewelry, study specimens, practice stones or small collector displays.
