About Dark Opal (Semi Black Opal):

The Gemmological Association of Australia (GAA) created the Nomenclature in 1993, which defined the Black Dark Opal.
This particular type of opal has a body tone that is darker than that of white opals or crystal opals, but it is not quite dark enough to be classified as a Black opal.
Additionally, it is important to note that this opal is unique in its appearance and can display a wide range of colors.
These types of opals are non transparent.
If you shine light onto them you will not be able to see through the Opal.
This type of opals has two different forms: as Seam opals or Nobby opals.
Nobby opals often have incredible patterns and a large percentage of them are cabochon, making them ideal for flashy fire rings and representing good value.
