What are Crystal Boulder Opals?
Crystal Boulder Opal, also known as P!pe Crystal Boulder Opal, is a unique type of opal that is based on sandstone instead of the more commonly known ironstone. Unlike ironstone, sandstone is a more fragile and brittle material. This results in a lighter-colored opal that has a crystal-like appearance. Crystal Boulder Opal discoveries are sometimes unintentional while searching for Ironstone Boulder Opals. These opals are found in sandstone, which is a sedimentary rock composed of sand-sized mineral particles or rock fragments, and are typically located in small pockets within the sandstone. Unlike Ironstone Boulder Opals discoveries, which often require smashing open with a sledgehammer. These types of opals discoveries are sometimes without any extensive effort. The discovery of opals in sandstone can be quite exciting, as these unique gems can display a range of colors and patterns. They can become a prized possession for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts alike.
